What is it?

A cute novella about making deals, Christmas, a rare lost Charles Dickens novel, and doing the right thing.

Who’s it about?

Sedgwick has come into possession of a rare lost Charles Dickens novel. He’s auctioning off the family treasure to raise funds for a school he wants to build. Despite his cold demeanor, both his temper and his feelings for James run hot.

James’s life is in freefall. He’s a disgraced rare book dealer trying to build back his reputation. His client wants that Dickens novel, by any means necessary. Acquiring the Dickens means getting his career back, but at the cost of ruining his chances with the surprisingly charming Sedgewick.

Why do I like it?

James has it rough, through little fault on his own. He’s disgraced, stuck in a dead-end job, and lonely, but this chance meeting with Sedgwick has a chance to turn that all around. Both characters have their flaws but when their jagged edges come together, their romance is super sweet.

Quotes:

“In one corner of the room was a large and particularly vulgar Christmas tree that managed to convey all the holiday charm of a sequined dildo.
