A surly journalist meets a suspected mobster in a BDSM club. What could go wrong?
Journalist Ian Richards just wants to finish his story on immigration's effect on extended families. When his source sends him to a BDSM club, Ian must decide how far he'll go for his story. Will he let the enigmatic Vincenzo call the shots or will his surly stubbornness ruin what could be his best article yet?
This 12k short story is a completed standalone that ends in a HFN. It features bondage, domination, spanking, and pain play. It is intended for mature readers only. What It's Worth was originally published in the Like It or Not anthology and has since been revised.
"There's a lot I could tell you," Vincenzo said. Ian could hear the implied but. "What's it worth to you? I'm assuming you want more than the family tree and statistics. You want to know about the family, about our connections and communications. Information like that comes at a price. Quality information comes at an even higher price."
Ian didn't like where this was going. He took another long pull of his drink. "I have money." Not as much as Vincenzo though, judging by the suit.
Vincenzo laughed. It wasn't a very nice laugh. "You're in the wrong place to be offering money."
READ MOREIan paled. In the corner next to the bar, two men and three women lounged on a large black couch, all mixed together in a pile. He took another deep swig of his drink. The alcohol burned his throat, not quite shoring up his courage, but it came close enough. He licked his lips, watching Vincenzo's eyes follow the movement of his tongue.
"What do you want?" Ian knew the answer even as the words left his mouth.
"You."
Ian considered it. He set his glass down and turned to Vincenzo. "Okay."
Vincenzo reached for Ian. His hand settled on the back of Ian's head, and Ian assumed Vincenzo was going to pull him in for a kiss. Vincenzo's fingers tightened, curling in his hair and pulling down. It hurt a little, but there was something else mixed in with the pain, something Ian didn't want to examine too closely. He gasped and slid off the stool, dropping to his knees as Vincenzo forced him down.
Vincenzo stood. The crotch of his black suit pants was right in front of Ian's face. "Open them."
